These images were made from scans of name tags that my friends and I made for an event at my church called Celebrate Kids in August of 2007. Here are the quick details of the process each one went through: The backgrounds were hand painted in watercolor. Then the lettering was manually transferred to the painted cards via carbon paper from print outs using a font called poornut, then hand painted with acrylics and outlined using paint markers. Each one was laminated and cut out individually. They were made to be attached via lanyards that clipped on to the top of the card so the card wouldn’t get ruined and could be reused.
It was a really big but really fun project, reminiscent of the many projects I used to do in high school with my friend Phil. My friends Heather, Audra and Phil and my sister Tiffany and my niece Allie all helped with various aspects of it. Big thanks to them. :) If you’d like to read about how the event itself went or to read more details on the process of making them, here is the related blog entry. You can also check out my friend Phil’s post about the nights he and I worked on these together which includes more photos of the process. Thanks for checking them out. :)
